Scope of this policy
This policy covers three separate apps published by GharTake, each serving a different role on the same delivery platform:
- GharTake — the customer app for browsing shops, ordering, tracking deliveries and paying.
- GharTake Merchant — the store-owner app for managing products, accepting orders, Point of Sale, and store finances.
- GharTake Rider — the delivery-partner app for receiving delivery offers, navigating and completing deliveries.
Sections below note which app(s) a practice applies to. Where nothing is specified, it applies to all three.
Data we collect
We only collect what each role of the platform actually needs to function. This table shows exactly what is collected, by which app:

Location data, in detail
Location is the most sensitive data point on this platform, so we're specific about it:
GharTake (Customer)
We use your device location, only while the app is open, to show nearby shops and to display your rider's live position once a delivery is on the way. You can also set delivery addresses manually without sharing live location.
GharTake Merchant
Your store's location is a fixed pin you set once at registration, used to route customers and riders to you. The app does not track your live movement.
GharTake Rider — background location
The Rider app collects precise location in the background — meaning while the app is minimised or the screen is off — but only under one of these conditions:
- you have switched yourself Online and are eligible to receive delivery offers, or
- you are actively carrying an assigned delivery (from pickup to drop-off).
This exists so that (a) nearby delivery offers can reach you, (b) the platform can verify arrival at the merchant and customer automatically without you tapping anything, and (c) the customer can see your live position on their tracking map. Background location stops the moment you go Offline and have no active delivery. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings — the app will simply be unable to receive offers or complete deliveries until it's restored.
Device permissions
Location

How we use your data
- Operate the marketplace — matching orders to merchants, dispatching the nearest eligible rider, calculating delivery fees and routes.
- Verify identity — CNIC and licence checks for riders, business details for merchants, before allowing them onto the platform.
- Process payments — recording wallet balances, cash-on-delivery reconciliation, and payouts to merchants and riders.
- Keep you informed — order-status push notifications, delivery ETAs, and support responses.
- Safety and trust — fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and enforcing the delivery-PIN and COD-confirmation steps that protect both customers and riders.
- Improve the service — aggregated, non-identifying analysis of order volumes and delivery times.
Third-party services we use
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers push notifications. Google processes a device token, not your message content.
- Google Maps — renders maps, calculates routes and delivery distance.
- WhatsApp Business Platform — delivers one-time verification codes to your phone number, where enabled.
- Payment networks — JazzCash, EasyPaisa and Raast process the payment you initiate; we receive confirmation of success or failure, not your wallet PIN or full card details.
Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms in addition to this policy.
How long we keep data
We keep order, payment and identity-verification records for as long as your account is active, and for a further period afterward where we're required to for tax, accounting or dispute purposes. Live location points are retained only long enough to power tracking and are not kept as a historical movement log once a delivery is complete. You can request earlier deletion — see §10.
Security
Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text. Delivery handovers are protected by one-time PINs. Sensitive documents (CNIC, licence) are stored in access-controlled storage, not publicly reachable. Connections between the app and our servers are encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we work to patch issues as they're found.
Your choices
- Edit or delete your account and data from Account settings in any of the three apps, or by contacting us directly.
- Phone-number privacy (Customer app) — toggle whether your number is shown to your assigned rider.
- Location — revoke it any time in device settings; note this disables ordering-nearby-you, tracking, or receiving delivery offers as applicable.
- Notifications — turn off push notifications in device settings; you'll still see updates inside the app.
- Marketing messages, where sent, include an opt-out.
Children's privacy
GharTake's apps involve real payments and, for Merchant and Rider, identity/financial verification — they are not directed at and must not be used by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we'll update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, notify you in-app before it takes effect.
